Re: ice fishin lures
I like little crallie jigs. You don't have to be fancy either, you can use the little jigs that come in the packs from wal-mart and just tip them with waxies

Re: ice fishin lures
Saugeye that combo deal jonny has there is as good as it gets it comes with jigs and all . On a side note the in-laws came over yesterday so I left before they got here and went down to deercreek . I had equipment failure so no fish was caught but about 10' out in the water was a piece of tyvek and some wood nailed together , I waded out and pulled it in and it had about $50 worth of vibes and cranks and dearies on it . Marry X-mus to me .

Re: ice fishin lures
saugeye1 hey check with your local gander mountain stores... they carry a small section of ice fishing equipment including sleds/shanties and gear and usually have decent combo packs for less that $30 or you can mix and make your own combo... they have stuff from frabil, gander brand, HT, HH, and others to mention... and have a nice little variety of jigs, spoons, and lures...
best place to begin with ice fishing is with panfish... because ice fishing gear can get very expensive very quickly!!! I just spent $28 on three lures and some line the other day but a good sensitive rod and a small reel will work perfect for panfish... I suggest getting an ultra light rod that has a spring bobber attached to it... best way to pick up on the finicky biters!!! And once you get the hang of it you can move up to say eye fishing which is another ball game all together through the ice!!!

Re: ice fishin lures
For jigs I use Little Atom and Fiska's both can be found on line at yourbobbersdown.com
Just about any combo you buy will have some not so choice line if you go that route, replace with some new line. I like P line CXX 2 & 4 test.

Re: ice fishin lures
I like the suffix ice line... and hey, those fiska jigs are really nice. Fished one last year that it cuts right down through the water... plus they're tungsten so they're small for their weight. The waxies/spikes really stand out as a result.
Not cheap, but if you want to try something that will make you more confident.... try them.
