I drilled a 3" hole at Lucy's about 15 feet out..... went about another 10 feet and drilled one about 3.75". We have some snow coming so we'll see if it messes up the ice we have at all.... we should be in good shape though!

if you're a bigger guy like me... better stick with around 5-6" plus!!! I was out at CJ today and the outer edges of the lake around the rip rap dam and the beach are skimmed with ice... and the marina was skimmed... but no where near being close to fish on.... I'd say it will be mid january before CJ is safe... and that depends on the weather... I know we are getting snow tonight, or rather forecasted to Rolling Eyes, but sometime snow isn't a good thing... DANGEROUS!

There is a mix up on my post from yesterday.. the holes drilled were on the north side of the lake, after driving by moundwood, Long Is, and Old Field. I apologize for any mix up. I was on the phone (at the lake) and my wife made the post for me. I need to get back up there this morning if I can, but my partner is hunting...

By the way, we went out Monday and I didn't even see a tail... he was 100yds away and had a bunch of does come right underneath his stand. They spooked when he tried to flip his safety.

just starting to get into it... tried a couple of times in high school and it was alright, but I'd have rather fished. I like bow hunting though and I have two uncles that are about as close to experts as I'll ever find.

Just came from Indian Lake MOUNDWOOD HAS 4". Some gummy stuff on top but 3" or so of lake ice underneath.
Now let's hope the weather doesn't mess it up again.

The temperature will not hurt the ice one bit, it will get back down in the 20s at night. It takes longer to melt ice than to make it. And if anything, the rain will melt the snow/slush on top. You guys should be fine.

Yeah, we'll just have to keep an eye on rainfall... standing water is heavy, and I don't like it being on top of the ice with me

lol! I might have basketball that day which is complete BS

I'm just thinking this because there isn't any fishable ice now after this wind and rain, not even long island and the first isn't far away...
