Will You Be Participating In The 2009 Whitebass Tourney
NEW RULES AND INFO FOR 2009 WB CONTEST
Ok, remember I want at least 10 guys truly interested to participate this year so tell your friends.
As far as prizes go:
Realtive Look Of Patch:
Anyone can write on any piece of paper the following:
"Ohio Outdoors.org Whitebass Contest"
"(USERNAME)"
"Week of (~)-(~)
"Code-New one relased weekly"
If all goes well with this tourney we will have more so inform your friends and family! If you have questions, comments, or concerns I would be happy to answer them or make a change possibly in the rough draft of rules above.
Thanks,
Jonny
- The contest will run from May 1st. of June 1st. of 2009
- There will be a small "Tourney Logo" that I will make and will post in printable format, You will need to have this noticable in all pictures of WB
- You can take pictures of one big fish at a time next to a read-able tape measure
- You must have at least 5 posts on the forum to make your first entry
- This will only be based on size (length) on which I and the mods will judge on each entry (Will normally go with the benefit of doubt)
- There will also be a big fish prize for the month and every week
- The big fish will be length and not weight
- There is no size limit or entry limit
- The big fish pictures should be pictured with a pinched tail as shown in the ODNR Regs, if your tail isn't pinched it's your loss.
- This will be based on the honor system. If you post fish pictures I would hope you would also have a report to go with it in other forums so we know where the fish was caught, It must be caught in Ohio and if any moderators have a "fishy" feeling about your pictures or report we have the right to inquire about the report.
- Administration participation: We will all be participating
As far as prizes go:
- I changed my mind if we want weekly prizes I'll have to get at least 3 donations of some small stuff such as lures, misc tackle, etc.
- I have decided there will be no entry fee and there will be a prize for the whole tourney, big fish included.
- Besides bragging rights of winning the tourney the main prizes will be suprises.

Re: NEW RULES AND INFO FOR 2009 WB CONTEST
I'm not as interested in the numbers aspect as I am the big fish aspect. Indian Lake is still recovering from a fish kill a few years back so I'll be going for quality rather than quantity.
In addition, fish should be measured as pictured on DNR regulations. (Tail at full extension)
We could use a dollar bill instead of having the patch, as the patch could be altered in size and then printed. This will simply keep everyone honest. I'm sure it isn't totally necessary, but you never know.
In addition, fish should be measured as pictured on DNR regulations. (Tail at full extension)

The tail is a good idea, I'll add that.
The patch is a must because it will not be released until May 1st and will not be able to be printed until that date showing that the fish was caught recently... But wait ha I get what your saying a dollar bill would be just as good and do the same things... I'll put that one into thought
Thanks,
Jonny

Couldn't agree more... I believe the quality of the fish should be the deciding factor, not quantity... And all measurements will be followed by DNR regulations as well as all fishing rules per DNR.
And as for a patch or "verifying" picture... why dont we just write our user name or "ohiooutdoors.org" and date on a piece of paper each time we take a picture and just have it displayed in it... I don't think this "patch" was to be used as a "size" comparison, but rather something to be used so no one could use old pictures... and if that is the case... each week the "code" that is to be displayed in the picture should change...
And being a graphic designer and administrator of the site... I can tell if a picture has been "shopped" (photoshop adjustments)

Re: NEW RULES AND INFO FOR 2009 WB CONTEST
Yeah,
I like your idea and also seeing why numbers could get a bit out of hand. Not saying that big fish will be easy either seeing that monday you may a 14 then tuesday and 15 then friday a 16... I think it'll be pretty fun to watch though!
I like this other idea of your patch...
We could do exactly as you say, Anyone can write on any piece of paper the following
"Ohio Outdoors Whitebass Contest"
"(USERNAME)"
"Week of (~)-(~)
"Code-New one relased weekly"
And know it wasn't meant for size comparison

Re: NEW RULES AND INFO FOR 2009 WB CONTEST
I got ya, I guess since my camera displays the date I wasn't really thinking in terms of using the patch to date the photo.

No worries, I always set my cameras to display date/time too, I often forget when I caught them... I like to make log books for catfishing after each season to use in reference the next year to to what I used for bait, time the fish was caught, where the fish was caught, and other specs alike... you'd be surprised what you'll find out about patterning out all species of fish
